Platone midterm conference has gone beyond expectations

15.09.2021 | The Platone consortium is proud and happy of having experienced such a huge interest in our midterm conference „Growing the energy transition”. Above 300 participants joined our two-day fully virtual event on 14 and 15 September 2021.

We are confident that this conference has been a great opportunity to boost knowledge sharing and expertise for the energy transition and to show how to join forces from growing strong to growing wide.

On day one the trigger talks of our inspiring speakers Jan Kostevc, Team leader - Energy Infrastructure at ACER, Ercole de Luca, Head of Electrical System Development at areti and Susanne Nies, General Manager Germany at smartwires gained valuable insights how to grow the energy transition with flexibility and digitalization. These speeches stimulated interactive discussions between participants and our experts in the two breakout sessions with the topics "Flexibility and digitalisation in the energy transition and role of regulation”, moderated by Prof. Antonello Monti from RTWH Aachen University and "Flexibility and innovation of the grid”, moderated by Kristen Glennung from E.DSO.

The highlight in the afternoon was the virtual launch of the Italian Platone demonstration. A one-hour video with deep insights into the Italian demonstration was followed by a panel of CEOs of Platone partners and Italian institutions lively debating about the flexibility future in Italy.

On day two the high-quality agenda was continued with trigger talks of Laurent Schmitt, Head of Utilities and European Developments at dcbel, Dimitrios I. Doukas, CIO and Country Manager Greece at NET2GRID and Paul de Wit, Senior Advisor Regulatory Affairs at Alliander. These speeches were followed by quite revealing discussions on DSOs and energy communities cooperating for the energy transition and consumer engagement in the energy transition as well as insights into the German and Greek Platone demonstrations.
