18.02.2021 | The Greek consortium partners successfully addressed selected stakeholders with an online workshop discussing solutions proposed in the Greek demonstration of Platone.

On 18 February 2021 about 30 representatives of the energy sector met virtually in a three-hour session for a professional exchange on the Platone solution that the Greek demonstration proposes in relation to increasing observability of the grid state and harvesting flexibilities for a more efficient operation of the grid.

The modular workshop was about attaining a common understanding of Greek demo's vision, rising awareness for tested solutions, getting feedback on the solutions that Platone suggests via the Greek demo like current barriers or envisaged benefits and identifying stakeholders' needs.

Our Greek partner HEDNO presented the main goal of Platone and the Greek demonstration solution. Our partners from Germany and Italy kindly participated by presenting the German and Italian Demo respectively. NTUA presented the state estimation tool and the variable network tariffs model. This input was followed by an interactive session about 'unlocking flexibility and network use optimisation' with the two focus groups on 1) Grid state estimation - advanced metering systems and 2) Variable network tariffs - a tool for a more efficient resource allocation?

The committed representatives of industry, energy regulatory authority, academia, DSO and TSO gave positive feedback on the content and scope of the project in general and of the Greek demo specifically.

With informing the relevant stakeholders and receiving feedback on the need for enhanced grid observability, possible challenges we might face especially during installation and commissioning of the PMUs so that they are successfully integrated in the Platone architecture and possible gaps towards a future implementation of variable network tariffs schemes were anticipated.
